Europharm SMC was formed in 2001 as a body to represent small to medium-sized pharmaceutical companies (SMCs) in Europe, and now has around 200 member companies from 17 European countries. ( The New SME definition ).
In order to compete effectively, SMEs need to be especially strong in networking, not only to find licensing partners but also to identify service partners in areas such as product registration and logistics.
Europharm's aim is to assist SMEs in identifying such partners and to promote business opportunities, both through its website and by hosting partnering meetings.
Europharm also aims to represent SMEs in the pharma industry at both national and European level, and has, for example, assisted in securing special rates for SMEs with the EMEA for product registrations.
